A childless couple discover they are finally with child. They live next to an evil witch who has a wonderful garden full of amazing fruits and vegetables. The wife, as a result of her long-awaited pregnancy, noticed some rapunzel plants in the garden and longs to eat them to the point of death. The husband brakes into the garden to gather some for her; but is caught by the witch. He begs for mercy, and the old woman agrees to be lenient, on condition that the then-unborn child be surrendered to her at birth. Desperate, the man agrees. When a girl is born, the witch steals her and raises her as her own, naming her Rapunzel and keeping her in a tall tower in the middle of the woods. A fractured fairytale approach revitalizes this classic – fun for the whole family!
