In the entertaining style of the Storybook Children's Theater, Jack's mother sends him to sell Bessie the cow. Jack goes off on his journey to sell his beloved friend and along the way his path crosses with a very friendly Butcher (no way - not a butcher), Little Bo Peep who has lost her sheepy, and of course Gary Gnome of the Gnome television shopping network. Gary and his assistant Dot buy the beloved Bessie and Jack is on his way. But wait, Bessie escapes when she learns that Gary and Dot have dinner plans, her! Meanwhile back at Jack's house his mother discovers what he has done and throws out the useless beans. Bessie returns and all is well. Later that night Jack sneaks up the enormous beanstalk that has grown from the thrown beans and meets Rupert the giant, his goose that lays the golden eggs and the magic music box that plays the funky chicken. Jack steals the goose and music box and suffers the giant's wrath. In the end it is revealed that Rupert is actually Jack's long lost father and everything including the beanstalk belongs to the family. A great show for the whole family!
