RSP's Annual Fireworks Stand

Come on out to our fireworks stand and get everything you need to celebrate the 4th of July and help out a worthy cause at the same time!

Runaway Stage is looking for volunteers to help out at our annual fireworks booth June 28th - July 4th at the corner of Fulton and Marconi (in Goore’s parking lot). Volunteer to work one or more of the 3 hour shifts. We will be open from 9am to 9pm every day except June 28th, when the booth will be open from 12 noon to 9pm. Runaway Stage Productions is a non-profit organization and the funds raised through this annual event help to bring you the top-notch entertainment you see on the RSP stage throughout the year.

This is our main fundraiser for the year. We find this event to be a great way to meet new people, encourage new patrons and gather to socialize while helping out the theatre company. Give it a try and we guarantee you'll be having the time of your life (next to seeing one of our great productions, that is!!).

If you can’t find time to volunteer, be sure to support RSP by purchasing your 4th of July fireworks at our booth.

For more information, please go to www.runawaystage.com/fireworks.html or contact us at Fireworks@runawaystage.com

Coming to RSP in July
Coming to Runaway Stage, those unconventional sisters of song and dance:

July 11 – August 3, 2008 Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm

Join the wacky antics of the Little Sisters of Hoboken as they discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally killed the other fifty-two residents of the convent with her tainted vichyssoise while they were off playing bingo with a group of Maryknolls, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. Upon discovering the disaster, Mother Superior had a vision in which she was told to start a greeting card company to raise funds for the burials. The greeting cards were an enormous success and, thinking there was plenty of money, the Reverend Mother bought a VCR for the convent, leaving her with no money in the kitty to pay for the last four burials. With the deceased nuns on ice in the deep freeze, the sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of “Grease.” We meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; Sister Robert Anne, a streetwise nun from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head.

Nunsense offers a cornucopia of hilarity for the whole family, proving conclusively that nun rhymes with fun!

For tickets, please visit us online at www.runawaystage.com or call the box office at 916)207-1226.

RUNAWAY STAGE PRODUCTIONS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES OUR 2009 SEASON!
Wild Party - January 2009

**Sacramento Premiere**

Runaway Stage Productions is very excited to present the Sacramento Premiere of Andrew Lippa's highly successful production of THE WILD PARTY. Taking place in the roaring 1920s, `Wild Party' concerns a blowout party in one wild evening in the Manhattan apartment shared by two vaudeville performers, Queenie and Burrs. To spice up their already rocky relationship, they decide to throw the party of the decade. Their colorful and eccentric mix of guests help to “Raise the Roof” and take us back to a tumultuous time of obsession, self fulfillment and greed.

An award-winning score by Andrew Lippa provides excitement and drive for this tale of passions out of control. Capturing the sound of a bygone era with a nod to the present one, he makes us realize that moral decadence is not only limited to our past. "The Wild Party conveys a sense of the decadent side of New York of the 1920s better than anything I can recall since F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.”
~Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times Theater Critic

Altar Boyz - March 2009

**Sacramento Premiere**

Altar Boyz, the critically-acclaimed winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical! Hailed as "high-octane entertainment", Altar Boyz tells the holy inspiring story of 5 small-town boys - Matthew, Mark, Luke and Juan and joined by their Jewish member Abraham - trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. Their pious pop act includes hits like Girl You Make Me Wanna Wait and Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone. With angelic voices, sinfully spectacular dancing and a touching story, Altar Boyz is destined to rock the masses of all denominations!

Evita - May 2009

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's final collaboration, based on the life story of Argentine Eva Peron, containing perhaps their strongest score ever. “Evita is an exciting full scale modern opera!” Based on Mary Main's biography The Woman with the Whip, it explores the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón. It begins with her early life, touches on her acting career and then it takes the viewer through her rise to power. Historically significant, it describes the1945 protests and rallies, Perón's rise to the office of President, and her eventual rise to Spiritual Leader of the Nation. With alluring music including Oh, What a Circus, and Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Evita is astonishingly potent.

Sweet Charity - July 2009

Sweet Charity is a tender, poignant and consistently funny look at the adventures, or rather the misadventures, in the ways of love encountered by the gullible and guileless lady known as Charity Hope Valentine. Charity is a dance hostess who always gives her heart and her dreams to the wrong man. With timeless favorites such as “Hey, Big Spender” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, Sweet Charity is sure to please!

Fiddler on the Roof - September 2009

In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, “Fiddler On The Roof” has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. Its universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS - November 2009

**Sacramento Community Premiere**

Get ready to discover a delightful new show that's as fresh and rare as newly fallen snow! The classic holiday tradition WHITE CHRISTMAS has come to the stage at last. Brimming with such Berlin hits as “Blue Skies,” “How Deep is the Ocean?” and of course the unforgettable title song, Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS tells the story of two showbiz buddies putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn, and finding their perfect mates in the bargain. Full of dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written, Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS promises to be a merry and bright theatrical experience for the whole family!

Great Parking News at Sierra 2 - The 24th Street Theatre!
As you are approaching the 24th Street theatre from Broadway, make a left turn on Castro Street and then a right turn into a newly available parking lot for theatre patrons. You will notice a new sign that lets you know that it is OK to park there for theatre events. This lot is very close to the theatre (a short walk right beside the theatre brings you to the front door, and the Box Office), and right next to the RSP rehearsal space known as "The Studio." So please feel free to park in this lot when you come to see the great shows at RSP! Just another way to make visiting the 24th Street Theatre easier and hassle free!
