RUNAWAY STAGE PRODUCTIONS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES OUR 2009 SEASON!

WILD PARTY -JANUARY 2009

**Sacramento Premiere**

Runaway Stage Productions is very excited to present the Sacramento Premiere of Andrew Lippa's highly successful production of THE WILD PARTY. Taking place in the roaring 1920s, `Wild Party' concerns a blowout party in one wild evening in the Manhattan apartment shared by two vaudeville performers, Queenie and Burrs. To spice up their already rocky relationship, they decide to throw the party of the decade. Their colorful and eccentric mix of guests help to “Raise the Roof” and take us back to a tumultuous time of obsession, self-fulfillment and greed.

An award-winning score by Andrew Lippa provides excitement and drive for this tale of passions out of control. Capturing the sound of a bygone era with a nod to the present one, he makes us realize that moral decadence is not only limited to our past. "The Wild Party conveys a sense of the decadent side of New York of the 1920s better than anything I can recall since F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.”
~Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times Theater Critic

ALTAR BOYZ - MARCH 2009

**Sacramento Premiere**

Altar Boyz, the critically-acclaimed winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical! Hailed as "high-octane entertainment", Altar Boyz tells the holy inspiring story of 5 small-town boys - Matthew, Mark, Luke and Juan and joined by their Jewish member Abraham - trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. Their pious pop act includes hits like Girl You Make Me Wanna Wait and Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone. With angelic voices, sinfully spectacular dancing and a touching story, Altar Boyz is destined to rock the masses of all denominations!

EVITA - MAY 2009

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's final collaboration, based on the life story of Argentine Eva Peron, containing perhaps their strongest score ever. “Evita is an exciting full scale modern opera!” Based on Mary Main's biography The Woman with the Whip, it explores the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón. It begins with her early life, touches on her acting career and then it takes the viewer through her rise to power. Historically significant, it describes the1945 protests and rallies, Perón's rise to the office of President, and her eventual rise to Spiritual Leader of the Nation. With alluring music including Oh, What a Circus, and Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Evita is astonishingly potent.

SWEET CHARITY - JULY 2009

Sweet Charity is a tender, poignant and consistently funny look at the adventures, or rather the misadventures, in the ways of love encountered by the gullible and guileless lady known as Charity Hope Valentine. Charity is a dance hostess who always gives her heart and her dreams to the wrong man. With timeless favorites such as “Hey, Big Spender” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, Sweet Charity is sure to please!

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF - SEPTEMBER 2009

In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, “Fiddler On The Roof” has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. Its universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS - NOVEMBER 2009

**Sacramento Community Premiere**

Get ready to discover a delightful new show that's as fresh and rare as newly fallen snow! The classic holiday tradition WHITE CHRISTMAS has come to the stage at last. Brimming with such Berlin hits as “Blue Skies,” “How Deep is the Ocean?” and of course the unforgettable title song, Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS tells the story of two showbiz buddies putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn, and finding their perfect mates in the bargain. Full of dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written, Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS promises to be a merry and bright theatrical experience for the whole family!
