Blake Edward’s Victor Victoria Make a Sacramento Debut!
2005 Season Concluded with The Hilarious Musical Sensation!

The best bedroom farces offer more than just door-slamming mistaken-identity romps, and Victor/Victoria is one such better farce, aligning the new attitudes of the Jazz Age with a few folks' newfound liberation in bucking traditional gender roles.
Newcomer to RSP, Marcy Goodnow, fills the bill as the classically trained soprano Victoria, who can't find a job in 1930s Paris until she meets and is befriended by Toddy, a drag-club diva, played by the wonderfully talented Bob Roe (2004 Elly Award winner for his portrayal of Alban in RSP's La Cage Aux Folles.)
Toddy sees that Victoria's voice, ordinary enough for a woman, would impress if believed to be a man's voice. A few superficial changes later and Victoria is now Victor, an expatriate Polish count. As "Victor/Victoria," s/he becomes the toast of Paree, and an object of fascination for big-time Chicago gangster King Marchan, played by David Lack (Mayor, in Seussical), who can't quite understand the teasing sensations he experiences whenever watching her in action-especially since he, like everyone else, assumes that she is a he.
Lauren Miller, (Marty, in Grease) is Marchan's screechy-voiced moll. While Mike McElroy (Harold Hill, in Music Man) as King's chief henchman, who, assuming that his boss is "that way," literally comes out of the closet.
(A hysterical comedy - Recommended for theater goers 12 and over)
