Summer Kicks Off With A Bang!
A Sizzling Explosion of Summertime Fun – Meredith Willson’s The Music Man!
The Music Man is the story of a phony traveling salesman who's plans to flim-flam an Iowa town in July of 1912 are thwarted by his love for the town librarian. The score is a disarming potpourri of period styles including the Sousa-style march "Seventy-Six Trombones," the preacher-like exhortation "Trouble," several barbershop quartets and the shamelessly romantic "Till There Was You." The book captures a time of innocence with humor, charm, and sentimentality. The Music Man remains one of the world's most popular musicals, an all-American explosion of hokum and heart. Michael McElroy is Harold Hill and Buffee Ann Gillihan will be Marion Paroo in this blockbuster show so summer will sizzle at the 24th Street theatre and another great RSP Production!
INSIDER TIP: RSP is pleased to welcome back the incomparable Ron Cisneros as choreographer for this legendary show, so don’t miss this one!

Meet New Members of the RSP Family
RSP is pleased to announce that two new members have joined the family, that’s right the Board of Directors have invited two new people to join the board, Buffee Ann Gillihan and Larry Groves.
Buffee Ann is excited to be filing a different "role" besides performer at RSP. Having performed in several musicals during the previous and current season, including: Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (for which she won an Elly award for best leading actress in a musical), Maize in “Seussical – The Musical,” Edith in “The Pirates of Penzance,” and currently Marion in “The Music Man,” she desired to be a part of the inner workings of the RSP family. After completely the application process and being selected as a new member of the Board of Directors, she will mainly be helping with the box office duties, promotions, and fund raising. Buffee’s talents make her ideal for board membership including her organizational skills, cast morale programs, customer service skills and sparkling personality just to name a few. Buffee is excited to be part of the team which makes this community theatre more than that, but a family.
Seeing the show Smokey Joe's Cafe at a friend's request was Larry’s first encounter with Runaway Stage Productions. He was very impressed with the production of the local theatre. He returned to see Fiddler on the Roof later. Then took the opportunity presented to usher and had the pleasure of seeing The Pirates of Penzance - twice! The RSP Board had two openings this season. So Larry carefully weighed the opportunity and decided he could help make RSP’s theatre programs well-known, respected, and intricate parts of Northern California's Arts and Entertainment scene.
His own theatre experience began when he was 8 years old, playing both The Buddha and one of the King's children in the San Bernardino Civic Light Opera's production of “The King and I” starring both Marni Nixon (Anna) and Barry Robbins (Crown Prince). High school productions of “You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “Bells Are Ringing,” “Little Mary Sunshine” along with CSUS's “The Mikado” were also great times. Singing became more of an artistic expression. Touring with Western Conservatory Baptist Seminary's "Song Of Praise" and years of youth choir musicals and adult choir presentations. After a long hiatus, Larry recently has returned to singing and hopes to maybe even participate in an RSP Production.
I am honored to be able to help RSP, it's mission, it's talent, it's contribution to the arts. I only hope that my future efforts can make a difference; continuing the positive, progressive and energetic direction of Runaway Stage Productions. Thank you!
