April is Workshop Month at RSP!

In an effort to continue to educate and improve the artistic process RSP is dedicating April as education and training month. RSP will offer four specific workshops to actors and performers in the Sacramento area.

COLD READING

This workshop will teach the skills needed in auditions (both for television and film and stage) for the actor to work with scripts and other written materials that they encounter in the audition process. Actors will learn how to handle, manipulate and work with the paper in their hands and not let it steal their audition. They will learn skills that will help them work with other actors on stage or in a reading, and the tricks of the trade to make the best first impression and show off their talents as a professional actor. In addition, there will be a section of the class devoted to the resume and how it speaks for the actor before the actor speaks.

Instructor: Bob Baxter (SAG, EQUITY,Staff Director for Film Industry Workshops, Inc. (FIWI) in Studio City,California)
Cost: $40 per participant.
Dates & Times: Sunday, April 10, 2005 1-5 p.m.
To Register: send your name, address, phone number, and e-mail to registration@runawaystage.com.
Class limited to 20 participants.
Age: 16 and above are welcome

CHARACTER ANALYSIS

This two session workshop will explore the process of character analysis and how to apply that to your work as an actor. Excellent for stage, film or television. This class will work on scenes and develop the analysis as a group and then individually on the scenes that partners choose. With a strong character analysis memorization and natural fact based acting comes so much easier. Understand unspoken ideas, facts, logical assumptions and ideas.

Instructor: Bob Baxter (SAG, EQUITY,Staff Director for Film Industry Workshops, Inc. (FIWI) in Studio City,California)
Cost: $60 per participant.

In this two session workshop, participants will learn how to prepare properly for an audition (Music Man Auditions are April 17 & 18th). However, this workshop will be applicable to any audition for musical theatre. Learn how to select a song appropriate for your voice, how to present that song and how to show yourself to the best of your ability. Everyone can learn something to help develop their skills and prepare better for an audition. Auditions are your few minutes to show what you can do, and this workshop will make those few minutes count helping you to demonstrate your abilities and talents.

Goodwill or Good Use?

Have you been wondering what to do with your mother’s old dresses, hats and gloves? Will your daughter never wear that prom dress again? Well, we have the solution to your closet storage problem.

The ladies of the costume shop are looking for a few good donations. We are in need of “period” clothing for up coming productions.

So you ask – what is “period” clothing. The answer is - a style of clothing that evokes a certain period or decade of time. Specifically, we are looking for clothing of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s – also, ball gowns and prom dresses of any period. We are also looking for men’s suits and formal wear.

If you would like to make a clothing donation, please contact Lillian Baxter at Lbaxter@runawaystage.com and thank you for your support.Goodwill or Good Use?

Great Parking News at Sierra 2 - The 24th Street Theatre!
As you are approaching the 24th Street theatre from Broadway, make a left turn on Castro Street and then a right turn into a newly available parking lot for theatre patrons. You will notice a new sign that lets you know that it is OK to park there for theatre events. This lot is very close to the theatre (a short walk right beside the theatre brings you to the front door, and the Box Office), and right next to the RSP rehearsal space known as "The Studio." So please feel free to park in this lot when you come to see the great shows at RSP! Just another way to make visiting the 24th Street Theatre easier and hassle free!
