Producer’s Corner
Faces were beaming at the 22nd annual Elly awards on Sunday, September 26th at the Crest theatre in downtown Sacramento as RSP took home the most honors. An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of “The Princess Bride” becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.
Another opening, another show - but this show is something very special and one that I assure you, you will enjoy. I say this with such confidence, because we have assembled one of the best casts of performers that we have ever had the pleasure of working with, and the production staff on this show is top notch. Into the Woods opened on October 1st at the 24th Street Theatre for a very limited four-week run and it is not to be missed. Award winning designers, directors and a truly gifted cast make this magical show a must see.

Some fresh, new, and very talented performers join RSP favorites Robin Hushbeck, Bradley Bong, J. Scott Browning, Karen Day, Dave Lack, Micaela Dimos, Kristen Wagner, Geneva Houx and Tevye Ditter. So call and get your tickets to this incredible show. For tickets contact the box office either on the web at www.runawaystage.com or call us at (916) 207-1226.

Coming next to RSP it’s the 40th anniversary production of a theatrical classic Fiddler on The Roof. Without our traditions, our lives would be as shaky as a...Fiddler on the Roof! Tevye, humble milkman, harried husband and devoted father to five marriageable daughters, invites us into his little village of Anatevka. Here, there is a tradition for everything - how to eat, how to wear clothes, how to pray, how to marry...all of which are happily imparted by our earthy philosopher as he draws us into FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. It is a remarkable journey traveling through secret love, forbidden betrothal, weddings, devotion and forgiveness, tempered by rejection, oppression and imminent revolution. And, emerging through it all, we find the humor, strength and perseverance of Tevye and his people, reminding us of life's never-ending circle.
Never has any other musical so magically woven music, dance, poignancy and laughter into such an electrifying and unforgettable experience. Based on the stories of Shalom Aleichem, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has been lauded by critics again and again, and won the hearts of people all around the world. Filled with a rousing and heartwarming score, which includes 'Tradition,' 'Matchmaker, Matchmaker,' 'If I Were A Rich Man,' and 'Sunrise, Sunset,' FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is a timeless classic. Relive a glorious tradition of the musical theatre with FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
'One of the most glowing creation in the history of musical theatre'
