The Producer’s Corner
Exciting things are happening at Runaway Stage Productions (RSP) and I just wanted to take a moment to share a couple of them with you, our friends and supporters. RSP has made major steps towards the refurbishment of our rehearsal space, known as “The Studio,” located at 2424 Castro Street, right around the corner from the 24th Street Theater at the Sierra 2 Center for the Community and Arts. RSP has received some very generous donations in the form of a new floor (thanks to the Price family at Price Construction), and now we have an entire wall of dance mirrors installed from Steve Maron and the Maron family. These improvements will help us continue to improve and perfect our shows, while making RSP an even better place to practice and perform. Thank you very much for helping with these fantastic improvements!Only Three Shows Left!
Don’t miss Smokey Joe’s Café, the hit review of the songs of Lieber and Stoller. Starring a very talented cast of nine of RSP’s best – in a fast paced trip down memory lane. Enjoy such hits as Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, On Broadway, Loving You, Yakety Yak, There Goes My Baby, Love Potion #9, and many, many more – almost 40 songs in all! The Sacramento Bee gave this show a three star review and raved about the “sterling performances” of the cast. There are only three performances left Friday, June 4th at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 5th at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 6th at 2 p.m. So don’t miss out and visit us on-line for your tickets at www.runawaystage.com or call the box office at (916) 207-1226.
Plus bring the kids out to see Goldilocks and the Three Bears, our award winning Storybook Children’s Theater production that has only two remaining performances – both on Saturday, June 5th at 12 noon and 2 p.m. This is a fun fractured fairytale that the whole family will enjoy. And don’t forget to stay after the show and meet and greet the whole gang – Goldilocks, Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Baby Bear, Snow White, Mother Goose, the Three Little Pigs and of course some of the cutest mice in all of the enchanted forest! Again, visit us on-line for your tickets at www.runwaystage.com or call the box office at (916) 207-1226. All seats are only $5 and it is a great afternoon of fun theatre.
Be A Part of the Magic!
We appreciate all of the support you give us coming to see our shows, and we love getting to know each of you that come back to see us time and time again. It is becoming a large and happy family, but you can be a part of the magic in many other ways. RSP as a non-profit educational corporation which operates three main programs including our Broadway Series, The Storybook Children’s Theatre, and the Youth Musical Theatre Workshops. RSP is always looking for help in supporting these very valuable programs. Join us to work on a production as a volunteer either ushering for a show, working backstage or be part of the technical staff (free training available.) We also need help with concessions and front of house work. All are very valuable assistance and help in a big way. If you don’t have the time to spend volunteering, your tax-deductible gift to help defray production costs is always appreciated. RSP is creating a Membership Program by which you can become a supporter with a financial gift of help. To become a member of RSP simply send your gift to: RSP – Membership, 5050 Laguna Blvd, Suite 112-410, Elk Grove, CA 95758. Gifts can be in any amount and are fully tax deductible. You can drop us a personal check or you can charge your gift on Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Please watch your mail box for further information regarding our Membership Program and please help support these very important programs.
Another way to help would be underwriting the costs of an RSP show. If you own a business or work for a company that would be interested in helping defer the cost of a production, that would be a great way to get your name out into the community as a supporter of the arts.
For information please e-mail Terry Miles – Program Development at tmiles@runawaystage.com.
Thank you for all of your continued support and we’ll see you at the theater!

How to help?: Volunteer to work one or more of the 3 hourly shifts per day. Call Kathleen at 682-6294 to sign up.
Why??: This is our main fundraiser for the year. RSP is a non-profit organization and our costs to produce such quality work takes money. We find this fundraiser to be a great way to meet new people, encourage new patrons and gather to socialize while helping out the company. Give it a try and I can guarantee you'll be having the time of your life (next to seeing one of our great productions, that is!!).
